The specialised extracts found in Marbles are a unique combination of neuro-phytoactives (plant based-molecules that actively benefit the brain) that are derived from:

  • Theobroma cacao (Cacao)
  • Citrus bioflavonoids (extracted from Citrus reticulata, Citrus aurantiifolia, Citrus sinensis, Citrus limon)
  • Matricaria chamomilla (German chamomile)

These are blended together to provide a powerful, synergistic brain formulation.

Marbles is a listed product with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). The TGA is a regulatory body that is part of the Australian Department of Health. They ensure listed complimentary medicines, such as Marbles, are tested to be safe, are of high quality and do what they are supposed to do.

The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules taken 30 minutes before breakfast or, depending on your health concern, as recommended by your healthcare professional.

The neuro-phytoactives in Marbles are specifically extracted at a molecular level based on in-house lab work. Typically, a super-critical fluid is used to extract the exact plant-based molecules required for brain health, vitality and resilience.

Phytoactives form part of the plant’s own defence system and accumulate at various levels depending on the specific environmental threat they are responding to. Insects, pathogen attacks (fungi, viruses) or harsh conditions (drought, exposure to UV) act on a plant to stimulate its defence system dramatically increasing the levels of these protective molecules. When pesticides or fungicides are used, plants no longer need to develop this defence system meaning these beneficial phytoactives are not produced. (It is important to note that “organic” does not necessarily mean the absence of a fungicide, as there are certain fungicides licensed for organic use.)

Further to that, the taste characteristics of phytoactives are often seen as undesirable because they taint the taste (including bitterness) and many processes have been developed to specifically remove them from our food or they are simply bred out. These factors have all led to a dramatic reduction of phytoactives in the food (organic or otherwise) that we consume.

In summary, it is very difficult to find varieties that are grown in a way, and produced or processed commercially, that are genetically diverse to contain these characteristics. One cannot simply turn up to the supermarket and obtain an orange (even an organic one) that would contain the same essential qualities as the extracts contained in Marbles.

Marbles contain extracts from normal everyday foods that do not have contraindications. Prescription medications may have contraindications and the prescribing doctor or manufacturer should be consulted to determine if the medication is contraindicated with any of the food sources contained in Marbles i.e. citrus (mandarin, lime, sweet orange, lemon), cacao (as found in chocolate) and chamomile. If these food sources can be consumed whilst on the medication, then so too can Marbles but it is always important to consult your healthcare professional.

Due to the complexity of determining otherwise, caution is recommended for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.

Research indicates that some botanical extracts play a role in modulating blood pressure. Therefore, caution and monitoring is recommended for those with low blood pressure, or for those on other high blood pressure medication.
